Environment

You can find hazardous materials in almost every home, from paint and stain to fertilizers and pesticides. While they are helpful, the real problem comes in trying to safely dispose of them. Throwing such items down the drain or sending them to landfills is not good for the wastewater system or the environment.

Luckily, the El Paso County Household Chemical Waste Collection facility provides a safe and convenient place to discard environmentally-harmful materials free of charge. The facility is open year round, but by appointment only. Please call 520-7878 to find out what they can and can't accept and to make an appointment to dispose of your hazardous materials.
